International 1st Years

International Transfers

International Transfer Students should register for a Remote Registration Date through our Transfer Student Page.

1st Year Remote Course Registration

If you elect to attend an in person orientation during the summer, then you will have access to enroll on the date of your orientation. You can find more information on our 1st year student page or the Orientation Website. All other international students should follow the steps below to prepare for remote course registration. Course registration will happen on Thursday July 18, 2024 9am PST. You will register for classes on your own but an optional advising session will be available from 9-11am on July 18th for any registration questions. More details are below!

Your course registration window will open on July 18th at 9am PST. You will register for courses remotely through Webreg. Please note that there is an “advising hold” on your record. This will be removed on July 18th before your enrollment window opens.

A Recommended Schedule for your major will be emailed to your UCI Email prior to your course registration date. Please make sure to submit test scores and transcripts early on so that your recommended schedule can be as accurate as possible. All students should be enrolling 12-14 units. It is not recommended that you enroll in more units during your first quarter.

There will be an optional zoom drop in session on July 18th from 9-11am PST with academic advisors if you have any questions about enrollment. A link will be sent to you a few days prior to July 18th.

If you cannot attend the drop-ins you can also speak to an academic advisor through Live Chat or Email.

Programs & Resources

GE VI: Foreign Language (Satisfactory completion, with a C average or higher, of formal schooling at the 6th grade level or above where language of instruction was NOT English). You can also clear this requirement through the Language Exemption Test with the UCI Testing Center.

GE VIII: International / Global Issues (Satisfactory completion, with a C average or higher, of one year of formal schooling at the 8th grade level or higher where language of instruction was NOT English).
Email ucounsel@uci.edu or fill out a degreeworks update form to have this applied to your Degreeworks starting in Winter quarter of your 1st year if you do not already see it applied. Keep in mind we will either need to see your middle or high school transcript that was submitted to UCI Admissions or a copy through email.
