Enrollment Windows and Restrictions for ICS courses
Fall 2026
Please check this page periodically as course restriction dates are subject to change.
The University Registrar opens enrollment windows for UC Irvine students, which are set according to seniority levels.
ICS places additional restrictions on windows for specific courses to prioritize students based primarily on their major, and sometimes also on seniority:
- UCI Prerequisites will be updated by May 15th, 2026.
- You can refer to the General Catalogue for the most accurate and up-to-date prerequisite information.
- Important: If you have satisfied any part of a course’s prerequisite(s) at another institution and you have not yet been cleared to enroll in that course, be sure to submit an Online Course Prerequisite Clearing request.
The School of ICS majors will have priority for seating in most School of ICS courses until 12:00pm, September 18th, 2026. See the detailed timeline for specific information.
- If a course is a core requirement for an ICS degree, first consideration is given to students in that major.
- If a course is a Specialization or Track requirement for an ICS degree, second consideration is given to students pursuing that Specialization or Track.
- If a course is a core requirement for a degree outside of ICS, third consideration will be given to students in that major, following the schedule outlined on this page.
- Majors outside the School of ICS may begin enrolling in ICS courses on September 18th, 2026, at 12:00pm.
- GDIM 167A will remain restricted to GDIM majors only
- ICS 139W will remain restricted to the School of ICS only (Upper-Division Standing only)
- INF 191A will remain restricted to INF and SE majors only (Senior Standing only)
- Quantitative Economics Juniors and Seniors will be able to enroll in STATS 120A from 5/29/26 until 9:00am, 6/2/26. A second window will be available starting 9/1/26 at 12:00pm.
- Computer Engineering majors will be able to enroll in ICS 6D starting 9/1/26 at 12:00pm.
- CSE majors under the School of Engineering: if you meet the prerequisites but are unable to register in an upper-division CS course (100-189), contact ICS Student Affairs for assistance. (Note: INF courses (101-171) will be available to CSE majors beginning 6/2/26).
- Any non-ICS student found to be enrolled in ICS courses without permission from ICS Student Affairs before noon on September 15th will be dropped.
The New Only restriction is used to reserve seats for new students who will be enrolling in classes during their orientation sessions over the summer. Some courses will be completely reserved. Other courses may have some seats reserved for incoming students while having open seats for continuing students.
You can see how many seats are reserved for incoming students by checking the NOR column on the Schedule of Classes for each course.
Once the seats for continuing students have been filled, the status of the course will change to NewOnly. Continuing students will be able to add themselves to the waitlist if one is available, or if there is no waitlist, students will need to wait until the course status changes to Open.
New Only Restrictions will be removed on: 9/1/2026 at 12:00pm
While the New Only Restriction is active, the seats of the following courses will be completely reserved for incoming students:

- GDIM 51
- ICS 31
- ICS H32
- CS 183/ BmE 132/ Bio Sci M 123
- ICS 6B

- ICS 53
- ICS 139W
- Repeat restriction is in place for all School of ICS courses on 5/18/2026.
- If you plan to repeat a course, you can start enrolling in that course on 6/2/2026 after 12:00pm.

The Fee Payment deadline for Fall 2026 is Monday, September 15th, 2026 at 5:00pm.
- Any non-ICS student found to be enrolled in ICS courses without permission from ICS Student Affairs before noon will be dropped.
On September 18th, 2026, at 12:00pm:
All school/major restrictions are lifted from courses except:
- GDIM 167A (will remain restricted to GDIM Seniors only)
- ICS 139W (will remain restricted to the School of ICS)
- INF 191A (will remain restricted to INF and SE Seniors only)
The School of ICS reserves the right to extend or reinstate major restrictions on courses beyond this date.
