HAI Lab has six papers accepted for upcoming AMIA Symposium
The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) has chosen five papers led by Ph.D. students in the Health and Information Lab within UCI’s Department of Informatics to be presented at the upcoming AMIA Annual Symposium in Washington, D.C., in November.
“We’ve had a very productive year and our students have some truly excellent work to present at the symposium,” said Kai Zheng, associate professor of informatics.
This year’s AMIA accepted papers include:
- “Mobile apps for mood tracking: An analysis of features and user reviews” by Clara Caldeira, Yu Chen, Lesley Chan, Vivian Pham, Yunan Chen and Kai Zheng.
- “Routine self-tracking of health: Reasons, facilitating factors, and the potential impact on health management practices” by Mayara Figueiredo, Clara Caldeira, Yunan Chen and Kai Zheng.
- “Understanding the patterns of health information dissemination on social media during the Zika outbreak” by Xinning Gui, Yue Wang, Yubo Kou, Tera Reynolds, Yunan Chen, Qiaozhu Mei and Kai Zheng.
- “Thinking Together: Modeling clinical decision-support as a sociotechnical system” by Mustafa Hussain, Tera Reynolds, Fatemeh Mousavi, Yunan Chen and Kai Zheng.
- “Understanding patient questions about their medical records in order to improve patient portal design” by Tera Reynolds, N. Ali, E. McGregor, T. O’Brien, C. Longhurst, AL Rosenberg, Scott Rudkin and Kai Zheng.
A sixth paper led by a Health and Information Lab alumnus was also selected to be presented at the upcoming AMIA Symposium:
- “Using EHR audit trail logs to analyze clinical workflow: A case study from community-based ambulatory clinics” by DT Wu, N. Smart, E. Ciemins, HJ Lanham, C. Lindberg and Kai Zheng.
The AMIA Annual Symposium is a multidisciplinary organization that actively supports informatics professionals and students in five key areas of their research and practice: translational bioinformatics, clinical research informatics, clinical informatics, consumer health informatics and public health informatics.
