I am working in the INsite lab directed by Dr. Stacy Branham on multiple qualitative research projects involving accessibility and technology. Methods used include semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis. I have collaborated on multiple papers with other scholars in my research group.

See my CV and my Google Scholar page, and my full publications page for more details.

Life Transitions and Technology Adoption

My current research considers how people might experience multiple concurrent life transitions and how technology factors into that. For example, I studied how blind and low vision (BLV) older adults acquire smartphones, and we proposed that they experience Intersecting Liminality, as they get stuck trying to acquire a smartphone while they try to transition on multiple life transitions (aging, technology acquisition, and becoming blind). Our full paper titled Intersecting Liminality was published at the ASSETS 2024 conference and was nominated for a best paper award!

Accessing STEM in Higher Education

My next steps include applying this life transition perspective towards the college transition, experienced by BLV computing students.

We've started learning about challenges faced by this population, through conversations with local students and their teachers and our work putting on an inspirational STEM outreach event.
