Class Participation:

Includes attendance and being able to comment relevantly on the readings. Students will be called upon to answer questions. You can only get 1 point per lecture of class participation. The standard is to participate in class, on average, once a week.

There are several ways to get class participation credit:

1. Express and defend an opinion in class.

2. Ask/Answer a question in class.

3. Volunteer to present in section.

4. Participate in a dicussion on the discussion forum located here.

Design Notebook:

You should begin, starting the first week, a design notebook which may be as simple as blank sheets of paper you carry around in your pocket. On it you should jot down at least one example per week of a user interface success or failure that you encounter and make some notes about for use in assignments later. Your notebook will be turned in during the final week of class.

Assignments

Four assignments will be assigned consisting primarily of analysis tasks.

Late Penalty

Generally speaking the late penalty is 1% per hour after the due date.

Due dates are always 11:59pm on the day an assignment is due.

Sick Policy

If you find that you are unable to make it to a scheduled examination of some sort due to sickness, please get some documentation from a health care provider to assist us in maintaining fairness to the other students in the class. In the absence of such documentation, please contact the staff as soon as you realize that you are going to miss a scheduled grading event. Generally sicknesses will be treated on a case by case basis. We will accomodate you as best as we can depending on the circumstances.

Tests

Three tests will be assigned covering the assigned readings and discussions in class. These will be administered during the discussion section.

Final Exam

This will be like the tests, but comprehensive.
