ICS Faculty Responsibilities for CSE Accreditation

ALL courses required for the CSE program
( includes CompSci 143A, 145, 161,
ICS 46, CSE 90, SWE 43 )
( and also
CompSci 132, 141, 142A,
ICS 6B, 6D, 31, 32, 33, 45C, Stat 67 )
Submit a packet containing the following items
(your TA can help accumulate this)
- a copy (pdf preferred) of all assignments, tests, exams, and important handouts
including the course syllabus
- a copy of on-line material provided for class students
Assessed Courses need to do the following IN ADDITION to the packet:

Submit a filled-out Faculty Course Assessment Report (FCAR) and samples
email the completed html document
to the Lead Faculty member ( dhirschb [at] ics.uci.edu )
obtain template from

- For each student outcome indicator to be assessed:
- Pick one assignment X (quiz, quiz problem, exam problem, or project)
- Submit 3 samples -- excellent, good, and poor -- of (copies of) student submissions of assignment X
it is preferred but not required that samples come from CSE students in your class
- Identify
- max score available for X
- score (on X) needed to meet the performance standard
NOTE: (performance standard score) / (max score) ≥ .70
- Save scores of all (only) CSE students on X
- Calculate and enter into the FCAR
- the number of CSE students who were graded on X
- average score of the CSE students on X
- number and % of CSE students who met the standard
- Answer questions on course changes & recommendations
