CompSci 143A/CSE 104 Backup Final Exam - Spring, 2013 (Dillencourt)
The Regular Final Exam for this class is scheduled for 6:30PM, Tuesday June 11.
In a class this size, it is possible that there will be valid
conflicts with the scheduled exam time.
An example of a valid conflict would be another final
exam scheduled at the same time.
An example of an invalid conflict would be
a conflict with your work schedule, since a month's advance notice should be
enough to change your work schedule.
To accomodate those with valid conflicts, we are offering a Backup Final
Exam, to be held on Monday, June 10, from 8-10AM.
If you wish to take the Backup Final in the place of the Regularly
Scheduled Final, you must do the following:
- Send an email to the questions list (compsci143a-questions@ics.uci.edu).
In this email:
- Use the following subject line:
CompSci 143A: Backup Final Exam Request
- Explain the exact nature of the conflict, with enough detail that it
can be easily verified.
For example, if your conflict is with another final exam, give the course
information (Dept and number) of the conflicting course, the name of the
instructor of the conflicting course, and the exact time of the final exam.
- Send this email on or before 6PM on Friday, May 17.
This is a firm deadline.
- If you follow the above instructions, you will either receive a confirmation
email, a request for more information, or an email stating that your request
has been rejected
and that you will be expected to take the final exam at the
regularly scheduled time. Your request could be rejected if I do not find
your reason sufficiently compelling or if I am unable to verify your
information.
- If your request to take the Backup Final is accepted, you will be provided
with additional information (for example, the room where it will be held.)
Please note the following:
- The Backup Final Exam will likely be different from the Regular Final Exam.
It may be harder or easier than the Regular Final Exam. Once I have the
results from both the exams, I may adjust the scores on the Backup Final Exam
to reflect these differences before computing the final grades.
- If you request permission to take the the Backup Final Exam according
to above procedure and your request is confirmed, you must take the Backup
Final Exam (rather than the Regular Final Exam).
- Under no circumstances should any student take both the Regular Final Exam
and the Regular Final exam. If anyone does this, s/he will receive the
lower of the scores on the two exams as her/his final exam score.
- The only offerings of the Final Exam for this class
will be the Regular Final exam and the Backup Final Exam.
If you are unable to take either the Regular Final Exam or the
Backup Final Exam, you will receive a NR grade in the class.
If this happens, it is your responsibility to contact me about removing the
NR and replacing it with a letter grade.
If an NR is not changed before the end of Fall Quarter, 2013, it will
automatically revert to a grade of F.
