nNote that for a remote address the router will respond to the ARP message. Routers recognize remote addresses by using subnet masks. This is called a Proxy ARP.
nThe router will assume responsibility for all packets addressed to the remote host and forward them accordingly. In other words, the router will pretend to be the host to the ARP request and send its physical address so that all packets will be directed to it.
