The purpose of this talk is to familiarize the group with Microsoft’s needs in the areas of versioning control and distributed authoring. During this presentation I will discuss my opinion on a number of issues. These opinions are mine alone. I present them to the group solely as an impetus to discussion.
This presentation will cover Microsoft’s goals in versioning and distributed authorship, my own views on backwards compatibility and why I feel we need new methods and headers. I will then cover Microsoft’s needs in the areas of distributed authoring and versioning as well as my opinions regarding how we might solve those problems. I will then finish up with a discussion of access control features.
