UBICOMP 290 (INF 290) Winter 2008

Compare and Contrast Ubiquitous Computing

This reading group will review literature in the Ubiquitous, Pervasive, CHI and other related communities. The emphasis will be on developing a familiarity with trends and directions being developed by active researchers. This is PowerPoint unfriendy meeting. This is also a forum for students to present practice talks and get feedback as the need arises (PP allowed in that case). This class is being moderated by Nick Noack and Asst. Prof. Don Patterson

This quarter we are trying a new format. Attendees will choose a week to present their own UBICOMP research. They will also choose a relevant publication from the literature for the same week. A different person will be assigned to present that paper. The local research presentation will be 15 minutes. The paper presentation will be 15 minutes. Then we will have 30 minutes of discussion about how the two relate.

Class meeting time is Friday at noon in ICS1 432.

The course code is 37358. If you are a student please register, although if that's a problem don't let it prevent you from coming anyway
