    • In order to conduct a study in user interface design and implementation, 8 teams of students produced Web 2.0 applications with an optional Nokia cell phone component. Each of the teams presented their work in an American Idol style format called "Anteater Idol". The audience voted on the best applications and the best teams received a small prize for their efforts. The overall best team received an automatic 100% grade. Subsequent studies of the user interface design were conducted in a lab setting. Below is a list of the best presentations in order by their audience vote. They span the range from beautiful to technically proficient to broken :) . Not all projects work in all browsers, but you should be able to try out most of them by clicking on the links below
  • In rough order of audience favorites:
    • iWatch - Find movie theatres, showtimes and buy tickets the way you always thought you should be able to. "It's like a real website"
    • FlickOff - Find movie theatres close to your friends' location and rate them on a mobile phone. "Cool spam filter"
    • DABNets - Sports media aggregator. "Never be clueless at the water cooler again"
    • Backstage - Find concerts by your favorite bands by querying off of your recently played list. "I'm cooler than you because my bands are only playing in SXSW this week"
    • Infoogami - Find events in Orange County in the date range you pick. "How come nothing is showing up?"
    • MusicFinder - Music media portal. "RSS in a way you never expected"
    • Faceplace (no link) - Local news from your friend's hometown. "Congratulations on that new rezoning law by your highschool. Want to go out Friday?"
    • Hometown - Crash at your friend's place while roadtripping this summer. "Dude, I don't have to pay rent for *three* months"
