Abstract: The landscape of space exploration is continually evolving, with increasing demands for efficiency, affordability, and rapid deployment of missions. This talk will explore the growing trend of leveraging commercial IoT technologies for NASA robotic missions. This presentation offers an overview of past, current and future NASA robotic missions that have adopted commercial off the shelf hardware and open-source software for driving innovation and expanding space exploration.

Bio: Mr. Steven Doran has over 25 years of experience in both the development and leadership of embedded flight software for programs such as the F-22, Space Based InfraRed System (SBIRS), Mars Helicopter and classified systems. Steve is currently assigned to JPL’s Embedded Flight Software group to develop new Fight Software concepts for future NASA/JPL missions.
