Transfer Credit Request

A Transfer Credit Request can be submitted to receive credit for a course taken outside UC Irvine.

This page applies to:

Current undergraduate UC Irvine students seeking credit for an ICS, CS, GDIM, or STATS course
Current ICS majors seeking credit for a GE requirement (except for lower division writing and language other than English).

This page does not apply for Study Abroad courses.

Transfer Credit Process

If the outside courses were completed at a California Community College (CCC), check assist.org to see if you are guaranteed approval through our articulation agreements with the CCCs.

Note: If an articulation applies to a series of courses, students must complete the entire series as listed at ONE community college to get automatic approval. The agreement does not apply to a series of courses taken at more than one college.

If your request is covered be a CCC articulation agreement:

Check to see if the courses are already listed under your “Transfer Courses” on StudentAccess
If they are not listed, then please ensure you submitted your official transcript to UCI Admissions.
Once the transfer courses are listed on your StudentAccess account, ask your school to update DegreeWorks to reflect requirements satisfied by the courses.
ICS students can fill out the DegreeWorks Update Form.

If your request is not covered by a CCC articulation agreement, then submit an ICS Transfer Credit Request. Note that this holds for all courses taken outside the CCC system.

You must be currently enrolled in the courses outside UCI or have taken them within the last two years. The form will require appropriate documentation.

The form will also require the following items for each course:

Student Learning Outcomes
Syllabus information
Breakdown of Grades

The Transfer Credit Pre-Check includes a series of questions to ensure all the requirements have been met before proceeding to the Transfer Credit Request form.

The form will open on Monday of Finals week and close after Friday of Week 2 at 5 PM for each quarter. Submissions after Week 2 will not be accepted.
