Fall 2026 Curriculum Changes

The AY 26-27 catalog will be available in July. This page summarizes important changes to help with course selection for Fall.

The changes to course names and prerequisites outlined below are effective in Fall 2026 for any student taking those courses.

The BIM and CS majors have undergone significant revisions outlined below.

BIM and CS majors graduating Fall 2026 or later can choose to follow their current degreeworks using the old requirements or switch to the new requirements.

Any BIM or CS major who does not want to switch to the new degree requirements:
- Follow your current Degreeworks, which indicates your catalog year.
- To access the catalogue that applies to you, use the Archive tab in the catalogue starting July.
Any BIM or CS major who does want to switch to the new degree requirements:
- Submit a degreeworks update form in November when the new requirements will be available in degreeworks.

BIM and CS majors graduating in Spring or Summer of 2026 may not apply the new requirements.

Prerequisite Changes:

ICS 6N – Changed prerequisite to include MATH 2B or MATH 5B or AP Calculus BC with a minimum score of 4.
CS 169 – Changed prerequisite to (I&C SCI 6N or MATH 3A) and (MATH 2B or AP Calculus BC with a minimum score of 4) and COMPSCI 161.
INF 101 – No longer offered. The course will only be offered as CS 141.
INF 122 – Remove CS 141/INF 101 as a prerequisite
INF 141/CS 121 – Added MGMT 7 as a prerequisite option

INF courses renamed to SWE (effective for Fall 2026 enrollment):

The following courses have been changed from INF to SWE. Fall prerequisites and ICS webpages have been updated to reflect this.

Prerequisite Clearing: If you need to submit a prerequisite clearing request for any of the courses below, please search for them under their new SWE name. The previous INF courses are no longer available on the prerequisite clearing system.

Note: Any course requiring one of the INF X courses listed below as a prerequisite will now be listed as requiring SWE X instead.

Summary: The new degree requirements do not have specializations. Instead, there is a new flexible core requirement. The new requirements also include four additional upper division courses.

There are no changes to the lower division requirements for the CS major.

Lower Division Requirements:

Add MGMT 1
Remove ICS 6D
Change STATS course requirements to STATS 7, STATS 67, or MGMT 7. Remove STATS 8.

Econ Sequence Requirement:

Change ECON course requirements to ECON 20A-B or MGMT 4A-B

Upper Division Core

Remove MGMT 173, MGMT 178, and MGMT 189
Add INF 131, INF 151
Remove CS 122A, STATS 110

Upper Division Electives

Change 5 upper division electives to 3 upper division School of Business courses + 3 upper division School of ICS courses

Note: The total number of courses required for the BIM major will remain the same.

STEM OPT Updates:

As of Fall 2026, BIM will be eligible for STEM OPT. If you are a continuing international student (graduating Fall 2026 or later), you must change your catalogue year and major to 2026-27. Please submit a degreeworks update form in November to request this update when the new requirements become available in degreeworks.
