Anteaters Celebrate at December Commencement
On Monday, December 16, 2024, UC Irvine held its Fall Commencement Ceremony. Among the sea of caps and gowns flowing into the Bren Events Center, nearly 250 students were from the Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences (ICS) — 96 undergraduates and 153 master’s students.
“It was great to see our Master of Science and Professional Master’s graduates participate in the December commencement ceremony together,” says Madhu Reddy, Associate Dean for Graduate Programs in ICS. “It’s also exciting to boast that ICS had the largest number of students participating.”
One such student was Sushmitha Jagannath, who earned her master’s degree in computer science. “What I loved most about the Commencement Ceremony was reflecting on how far I’ve come, thanks to the amazing professors and opportunities at UCI,” she says. “The ceremony was a beautiful way to celebrate that journey and having my family there made it even more special.”

Another ICS graduate, Pranav Agarwal, shared a similar sentiment about the ceremony marking a moment of “pride and reflection.”

“Graduating with a master’s degree in data science marks a significant achievement in my academic journey. The ceremony was a beautiful celebration of our hard work and dedication,” he says. “What excites me most now is applying the skills I’ve gained to solve real-world problems and make a meaningful impact in the field of data science.”
We congratulate these ICS anteaters and look forward to their future accomplishments as they join our network of more than 17,000 alumni!
